About this site: A word from the Prankwebmaster

The Prankster History Project is an attempt to use the power of the internet to conduct important research into a specific area of America's recent cultural history. As the site grows it will also serve as an electronic archive for the written testimonials, photographs, and other historical documents that people submit to it.

It is not a commercial site, in fact it costs a lot of time and some money to keep it updated and on-line. It is a both a labor of love and a research tool for my studies. I am currently a PhD student in American history, studying at Ohio University in the Contemporary History Institute, and my dissertation focuses upon the activities of Kesey and the Pranksters during the sixties and beyond. Part of the rationale for building this site was to generate information and sources for my work, but hopefully the site will also serve as an interesting and useful place for other people to visit.

Kesey and the Pranksters themselves have been very helpful in my research. I've spent some time during the past couple of summers out in Oregon working in the Prankster archives and with Kesey's papers at the University of Oregon. I have also done numerous interviews with lots of Prankster related folks, including Carolyn (Mountain Girl) Adams, Anonymous, Ken Babbs, Stewart Brand, Ron Bevirt, Jeff Blankfort, Caitlin Cassamo, Carolyn Cassady, John Cassady, Jami Cassady, Peter Demma, Phil Dietz, Paul Foster, Gretchen Douglas, Dorothy and Jim Fadiman, Wavy Gravy, Mike Hagen, Mikey Hart, Dennise Kaufman, Julius Karpen, Ken Kesey, Faye Kesey, Paul Krassner, Anne Lambrecht, Vic Lovell, Ed McClanahan, Anne Murphy, Lee Quarnstrom, Brian Rohan, Paul Sawyer, Chloe Scott, Roy Sebern, Ramon Sender, Leon Tabury, George Walker, Lola Walker, Jim Wolpman......

If you have any suggestions as to how this site might be improved upon, or you have any information that you think will help me in my research then I'd be delighted to hear from you.
